thanks

Poor thing.
is the baby fish struggling to swim and getting weak.
Any bleeding or bruising on the fish.

Sadly the poor little thing not going to make it.
I would issolate the fish to a container at the top of the tank if you don't have a issolation tank.
With losing the tail the fish finding it hard to keep balance, is getting weak trying to stay balanced.

moved it to the fry nursery tank in the top of my tank any thing else i can do *sighs, for the baby fish though*

Is the current strong in your tank.
Maybe turn it down abit.

Is it the tail fin or the 'meat' part of the tail that got taken off?

I have seen fish survive in the wild with no tails.

Once fish start to struggle and get weak there rarely make it.
The stress of it just finish them off.

Keep fingers crossed for you but it not sounding to hopeful.

Sounds more promising.
I would maybe half dose some melafix to stop infection.
The tail fin should grow back.

I've seen some INCREDIBLE recoveries of fin tissue, from finrot and also from a trauma injury very similar to this. Somebody posted a journal of a zebra danio that lost most of the tail fin and a considerable amount of the caudal peduncle (meaty part) on one of the Australian fish forums last year. I was astounded that it survived. Got trapped behind a filter and the tail fin turned gangrenous and fell off.
It looked pretty ugly, what grew back, but it was perfectly functional and the fish lived an normal life.

Poor baby Molly, hope he fully recovers! Will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Dont beat yourself up over this, Ive seen quite a few incidents where accidental injuries have occurred on these forums. You were only trying to get him back into water as quick as possible.
