Im assuming this is "ick"? I called the lfs and they said to turn up the temp in my aquarium (it was a 75 F, its now at 80 F) and to add some more water conditioner (I forgot how much) and to put some aquarium salt in the tank. It was actually my dad who called as I just got my wisdom teeth out and cant talk that well...
Is this the correct information? Also, how easy is it to treat ick? And how long does it take to treat? I only have 4 mollies in the aquarium.

Thanks ;)

So thats 86 F? What has been everyones experiences with treating ick? Was it successfull? Do I need to buy any other treatment or is what I said in my previous post ok with the salt?
Also, I have water sprite in there, will the ick affect them? And my fish are preggers will that affect the fry?

Thanks ;)

If the whitespot isn't to bad try the salt and high tempreture, do a gravel vac as that helps to get the parasite out of the gravel once the parasiteshas left the fish , if you do buy a whitespot med couldn't tell you if it would affect the fry, sorry.

Even if she hasent had the fry not to use any type of med? The salt is ok though? And the ick is not that bad. Theres only a couple of spots but im still worried for the fry and the fishies. The one that is preggers has white on her underneath too. Is this just from being prenant or from the ick?
Thanks :/

If you have to loose the fry to save the tank I would medicate, but meds can cause deformaties in the fry.

Will the salt cause deformaties in the fry?
Thanks -_-

No salt won't, when my platys were fat being pregnant they lost there colour underneath abit with stretching there skin.

Ok thanks so much for eveyones help. I will keep you undated on the progress. Im putting the salt in tonight. Also how much salt and how often? How long will it take to get rid of the ick?
Thanks ;)

2 tablespoons to 5 gal but only if you have no scaless fish, don't no when you retreat as I have never used salt only for whitespot.

Ok... What is a scaleless fish? I have 4 mollies in my 10 gallon tank, 2 of them are black lyetails and the other 1 is a dalmation lyetail and the other is a dalmation.
Is white spot and ick the same or different?

American call whitespot ick, and we call it whitespot yes it's the same yes salt is ok with what you keep, good luck.

Also you could put a thread up in chit chat about trying to cure fish with just salt and turning the temp up, some have done this and they can tell you when they changed the water and added some more salt.Good luck.
