My Medium Tank Broke And Killed The House

Wow, sorry to hear about all these tanks going. I know I hate to think of the damage I would have if my 55 gallon tank broke in my new house. Everything is new, plus we spent about 25K finishing the basement under it - so it could leak down there and ruin more stuff.

I am planning on re-inforcing the dresser that the tank is on, as I noticed it is slightly bowing in the middle after a few months with a 55 gallon on top of it. The dresser was meant to hold clothes in its drawers, not 600 pounds of tank on top of it. I did re-inforce it before putting the tank on it, but the slight bowing and all these stories make me want to go buy some metal beams to put in the front side of the dresser to beaf it up.

well what im going to do now is to make a type of brike dyke at the bottom of the aquarium. i will then cover these in tiles and make a drain system. this will also help when it comes to cleaning the tank out as I dont have to run a hose to the garden and water the plants.
