Moved On
That reallly sucks. I guess this reminds us too always have foam under tanks.
Foam? As in under the glass part? Or under the entire aquarium?
Also what foam? I've never heard of foam under an aquarium.
Sorry on your loss Fozzy
yea a 1 inch flat board of insulation styrofoam is what should be under the foam to stop things like this happening.
And yea it was my second tank in a week. i think that with the water on the wood from the first tank had made the wood buckle and caused a twisting of the floor which then caused a twisting in the frame.
I have always had metal frames but when i moved into this house i made two new frames for my aquariums to sit on so they looked a part of the house.
Well thats it i am now welding some new frames to fit the new tanks i will be building. then i will first put a rubber mat with the dimples then styrofoam then the tank.
Remember kids if you take short cuts it will kick you in the face. or should i say in the wallet. insurance man is here soon so this will help me back on the way.

Yeah....no...
I don't have any fears about my tanks breaking. I've never had a leak, ever in any one of my 8 fish tanks (2 of which are acryllic). Right now I'm taking a break and I only have 4 of them operating... I can't handel all those fish! Teehee....

i hope you never experiance what i have gone through..
Acrylic tanks ... ahhhhhhh i wish... i would have to get my tanks purchased in america then sent over here t the netherlands as they domt make large aquariums in europe... all the ones here are made in america and sent here.
I would love to have a 3m (l) x 1m(w) x 1.5m (h) acylic tank.
