once you have had an ammonia then a nitrite spike and then a nitrate spike (ammonia should return to 0 nitrite to 0 and nitrate to 10 or under. once theyre at this perform a 50% water change then test again in 12 hours, if the stats remain at ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrates below 10 your ready for CUC

when that brown algea comes what should i do. should i leave it to go by itself or should i scrub it off. thanks

That is what your CUC is for, brown algae, called diatoms, they will munch their way through it. You can clean the sides of your tank with a mag float too :good:

ok my ph is 8.2 saltiny is 1.024 ammonia is between 0 and 0.25ppm havent done nitrate or nitrite test yet

yes i know i dont think i have had that rapid rise in amonia yet i am going to wait until next week anyway until the cuc go in bearing in mind my stats

Get a good balanced CUC,
STM shop have a good selection
Utilise Ceriths, Nassarius, and Astrea or Turbos snails alongside Hermits.
Dont forget to provide the hermits with empty shells as they move house very frequently and may kill snails for their real estate.

amonia is back down to zero. when should i do my water change. my tank has nearly been running for a week.

when your nitrites read 0 and your nitrates below 10 then do a 50% WC then go and test again 12 hours later and if the results are the same your ready for CUC
