 Hello all and thanks for the warm welcomes. This is my first ever post and hope someone can answer my weird question.

Just yesterday my male Red Devil layed eggs all over one corner of the tank, surprised the heck out of me because I thought she was was a he. Now I know it's a female. But I was fooled because of the big hump or knot head as I call him or her.

My question is: The females are the ones that lay eggs right?

And is it too late to get a male in there to fertilize the eggs?

And if I introduce an adult male, will they fight since they did not pair up as infants?

THanks to all who reply

Okay, first, females lay eggs, normally with another fish, is there another fish near her that is also protecting the eggs?

2nd, yes it is TOO late, the male must fertalize them within minutes of being laid.

3rd, they may or may not, they probably will pair up eventually though, it doesn't matter how old they are really :D
