on another post you said you were not going to breed them! the post where you were asking advice because you wanted to buy your first betta - and when explained that you need MANY tanks, money, time, experience, etc etc you said you would wait - for your fish's sake - return the female - a male and female can not cohabitate like guppies - they will terrorize eachother!

in this post http://www.fishforum...0&#entry2651060 from yesterday many many knowledgeable fish keepers were advising you on how to go about keeping a betta - if you got them between today and yesterday it means you are also doing a "fish-in" cycle which is very stressful for the fish :( seems like you got fantastic advise and then impulsively jumped in...:-(

Agree with Jenste.

Its funny though how your stocking list in your profile said you had a male and female betta before you actually went and 'impulse' brought them. :shifty:

errmmm im not putted them in together

those pic was not same tank and i know they will need to know eachother first not just 5-6 days but more than 2-3weeks and those damage are not from the male but from another female from the shop. and im not gonna breed them now. so you i hope you understand me. :)

Say what? Im just stating that you 'wrote' on your profiles stocking list that you had a male and female betta.
on the other thread you were only 'looking' to buy a Plakat male, but you brought a male and female. Unless that was the intention from the start, it would seem to be an impulse buy.

Im not having a dig or anything, just stating a fact. Hope i dont sound offending :good:

you had a whole other thread where you were being advised on how to keep bettas - you stated you were getting YOUR FIRST BETTA - and were strongly advised to not breed them yet as you are still learning how to keep one alive....never mind conditioning them for breeding, having a proper breeding tank, breeding them, growing the fry, having up to 200 extra heated and filtered tanks for potentially hundreds of male offspring who need to be seperated after a few weeks or they will fight and fin nip constantly.
and you need to consider what you are going to do with the fry - have you contacted multiple fish stores to see if they will take them in? most will take only 20 (if you are lucky) at a time due to housing them....

you need to do A LOT of research before breeding - especially bettas!!!!
if you are interested in breeding try some common livebearers first - guppies/platies.... get used to the tedious work with fry that CAN be kept together and THEN think about the EXTREMELY difficult task of breeding bettas!
I have been fish keeping for over 7 years and I still would not take on that task right now - it would cost an outrageous amount of money, time, and stress without any guarantee of profit....

I worry for your fish and that you are trying to do too much, too fast, with too little experience and knowledge.

Just to add: I personally wouldn't breed VT's. They will be harder to shift later on. Also, if they are from the LFS i wouldn't breed them either, as you dont know the age of them or the parents genetics etc.

its not a matter of "getting to know each other"..the fish will fight. PERIOD! no amount of time will make them become "friends". keep them house separately for their safety's sake.
cheers!

i promust you i wont try to breed them now
i just take care them basicly

and thank for the info :)

i just didnt want to see you try so hard and end up with a bunch of battered and dead babies :(
and male and female bettas will never co-exist happily....one will always end up killing the other

i wish you all the best with your bettas! you picked a great forum to ask questions on!

Your male is very handsome :) . It looks like he has a few tears in his fins, but clean water should soon help that clear up. Hope he settles in well.
