ok heres the deal
i just purchased a 75 gallon tank from my lfs

And i want to raise an oscar or 2 in it
And i understand i must sell my oscars when they get too big because my tank is only 75 gallons
Ok my question is what else can i put in there

i know i want:
1 tiger oscar
1 albino oscar
and 1 large Common Pleco

What else!!!
i was thinking along the lines of a couple clown loaches or a couple irrdescant sharks???
Please Help

Do you think you can fit a couple of these (Pangasius / Iridescent sharks) in your 75 gallon ? ;)

(from the PKF Article)

Apart from that I can't help as I know nothing about Oscars.

is there any particular reason why you want to buy oscars & a plec ??? i know they appeal to some people but i don't see the appeal if you are just going to sell them when they get to big :/ :/
if you want clown loaches & the such why don't you just make it a community tank or am i being really silly lol :D :D
also the sharks get that big that bloo just posted. thanks bloo cos i couldn't remember how big they got lol

ya they do and they are only like 3 inches
and they are only like 3 dollars

OH MY GOD!

I can just imagine some kid getting 3 of those for his 10 gallon!

hahahaha that would be funny

i think half the problem is, is that people do buy them for 10gallon tanks with out realising how big they get, that is 1 of the reasons they still sell :/ :X
and to be fair its not just kids that fall for that 1 either, cos lfs will give the wrong advice to people over the fish they want

Wait-lemme get this right, LFS sell those things (irridescent sharks) in stores!!!???

That post is misleading. That's a Giant Mekong Catfish, (Pangasius (Pangasianodon) gigas), the Iridescent Shark is Pangasium sutchi and while not a small fish (3 feet is how large it can get), it's nowhere near the size of that.

To be honest, most fish stores don't know these fish will grow that large, or in some cases, know they won't grow that large because their customers won't house/properly keep them in a condition that lets them get to that size.

Still not a fish for the average fish keeper though. They need a very big tank and are a shoaling fish so you need 3 or more of them.

You could keep 1 oscar in a 75g tank forever... why not just do that? Just be sure to overfilter, and do frequent water changes.

Some oscars tolerate plecos, some don't... Mine sure didn't.

Well I doubt a couple of these will fit either ;)
