I've never seen them in our LFS around here but maybe in a larger city?
Also overhere, goodeids are actually not offered at an average lfs. And in case they are offered it will be Ameca splendens or Xenotoca eisini. Other kinds of goodeids won't be found through retail overhere.

We have nothing in the stores here.
Even the specialist warehouses are struggling with stock. This is why i thought i would have a go with some guppies, Just to see if anything good happends.
What amazes me more than anything is the fact that in different parts of the globe you can simply go down to the river or streams & catch fish that we pay top dollar for here in U.K.
There are a few videos on youtube about fishkeepers bringing home wild caught Corydoras, Plecs & Guppy, then breeding them. I guess this is what makes the world go round ?

I read that there is a population of wild guppies established in the San Antonio river. That's about 6 hours from here. I'm going to try to go this summer and catch a few but I have to make sure that there's no permit required. Since they are a non-native fish, I doubt that there is.

I just received an email from the Texas Wildlife people and was told that collecting the guppies was fine. All that they asked was that I commit to not releasing them into public waters. I've noticed that the various feral populations seem to develop their own unique patterns. I'm anxious to see if that holds true for this population as well.
