I currently have a 60 litre tank with a common pleco, 2 female kribensis, 3 male neon tetras, 6 male guppies, a shrimp and 2 african dwarf frogs.
Becasue my pleco will outgrow the tank, I am trying to get hold of a 4ft tank, which I am gonna fishless cycle with the help of some mature filter sponge. The pleco will be moved to this tank as soon as it is ready! I also plan to move my kribs to it, and want to get them boyfriends! At the moment, the larger female chases the smaller one, though they have days where they tolerate each other just fine too. So, first question - would it be better to leave the smaller krib in the 60 litre with the guppies and tetras? Or would the females stop fighting if they had boys to play with?
So, next question - do I want 1 male per female? And the males should be obviously bigger, right, or the female might reject them?
I plan to get a tank smaller than my 60 litre, somthing not quite as tall mainly. I am gonna move my frogs into this, as the fish are constantly stealing their bloodworms! And I will add another 2 or 3 frogs, depending on the size of tank. I know that they don't require a filter but I am gonna set one up anyway, and a heater. That way i can also use the tank as a quarantine for the fish - I presume frogs don't catch fish diseases?
If my kribs breed successfully, do I need to remove the fry from the main tank at some point? I would also use the small frog tank for the fry i think, so they don't get eaten by bigger fish and so i can check they are getting enough food.
Anyone got any ideas for what other fish I can put in a 4ft tank, that will live happily with the pleco and the kribs? I want colourful fish with lots of character. I've looked round in shops but not seen anything that really caught my eye.... I plan to sell the baby kribs to a reputable fish store, or to fishkeepers nearby, but I may possibly keep some of them and move them to the large tank - would they be OK in there with the adults? I quite like the idea of lots of gorgeous kribs swimming round merrily! Or, I may get some other cochlids, but am unsure which ones would live happily with the kribs.
Any advice would be great, and if I have said i am gonna do anything that is a real bad idea, please point it out to me! I have already messed up once by fish-in cycling and I don't plan on making any more mistakes!

I would get rid of the smaller female and get a good sizd male for the biggier female. I would also recommend getting rid of the pleco, as it will eventually need a 120 gallon tank( if im not mistaken). Also, the kribs would attack the tetra's. Yes 1 male per female. Yes, after about 2 weeks you should remove the fry. Also, the frogs would probably eat the fry if they arent big enough. You could try getting some other dwarf cichlids. But add them all at the same time( with the kribs) or the kribs will kill them. But seriously, i would remove the pleci, but get the tank anyway, as your kribs are probably rally cramped in the 60 l.

:S I was told elsewhere on this forum that my pleco needed a 4ft tank.... how many gallons is that likely to be? The main reason for the new tank is so I don't have to rehome my plec. Also, no way can I rehome my smaller krib, I am just too attached to her. I think I am best leaving her in the 60 litre with the guppies and tetra.
If I add dwarf cichlids to the new tank first and then add my big female krib with a male krib at the smae time, would that be OK? Cos I don't really want to add too many fish all on the same day, it might cause a mini cycle, mightn't it? And if not dwarf cichlids, what else would be good tank partners for a pair of kribs?

If it is a Common Pleco then you need a minimum of 5'x2'x2', I'm afraid.

omg. I better get looking for something bigger then! If I can get a 4 ft I will, and move him there for the time being. I'm having an extension put on the house this summer, and then I will have more space for a very large tank, might try for a 6ft..... at least a 4ft will allow him more space to grow in the meantime. I'm not sure I could fit 5ft into the space I have right now... :S

As far as im aware i awnserd all your questions and i am pretty sure i gave you all the info you could need. Any other questions?

You answered my most important questions, yes, but there were quite a lot of questions there! :p I just wanna be properly prepared
