Hi everyone,

I have had my two kribensis for about 9 months. In the beginning, there was plenty of digging and guarding holes together, lots of 'dancing' and the female showing the male her big pink belly. I never actually got any babies though. Now, in the last month or so, its like they 'broke up!'. The make tends to sulk in his cave, which he defends, and often chases the female away from it. She doesn't tend to show much of a pink belly anymore either.

I thought these guys were supposed to be easy pairers. Has anyone else had this happen? I was so keen to see some little krib babies :(

Would adding another male and female to the mix help?

Keen to hear others experiences!

I haven't had mine long enough to have any suggestions on "break ups" maybe she's just not in the mood and they could get frisky again down the road.  I just moved mine out of my community tank to a tank with just a couple guppies and they've started the frisky dance again.  They ate their first batch that was in the community tank (eggs) so I hope to do better this time, once I have swimmers I'm just gonna move the adults back to the main tank.

depending on how big your tank is would really determine if you can add another pair, unless you are just planning on adding another pair just to see if someone hooks up and removing the others, then I'd say go for it.

It's a 450 litre tank - and I would say if its anyone not in the mood - it's him!

She always ventures towards him and he is a cranky pants and chases her away :(

so it's a pretty huge tank eh? mine's 55 gallons, sounds like you got twice that, I'd think you'd be perfectly safe adding another couple
