I woke up this morning, turned the lights on in my tank, and noticed that my male Gularis Killifish wasn't moving a lot...at all...and when he tries he ends up somewhat belly up and is doing more of a float than a swim. He's still able to get depth, but now he's sitting upside down in the bottom of my tank. The pH is fine...and he was fine and very swimmy last night. I'm a novice at this...I don't know much else to check, but my other fish are all fine-- more than willing to swim around and eat this morning. Can anything be done for him?

he might have a problem with his insides (swimbladder perhaps) or it could be the tank water. Check the water quality and if it isn't perfect then do some partial water changes using dechlorinated water that has a similar temperature to the tanks.

I've only had him for about 3 1/2 weeks. He's been fine until today. :-\ His mate's still fine, and so is everyone else in the tank! GRRR!!

all 4 of my killifish died, they were annuals i found out

one jumped out the tank

and the other 3 just died

bloody annoying

Sorry to hear about the little bloke.

Hopefully the others will do well and you can breed them and keep some of the offspring.

Although killifish are called annuals, many of them can live for a couple of years, especially the bigger varieties. If you keep them in cool water 20-22 degrees C they last a lot longer than when kept at 28-30C.
