A month ago I had a perfectly healthy female guppy (about 2 years old), full of fry and quite active. After she had her babies she got very sick: bleeding and rips on the dorsal, and white patches on her tail. But the most disturbing thing was that her back became crooked so that she looked like an S if viewed from the top and was having a lot of difficulty swimming.
The skin problems looked like columnaris so I moved her to a hospital tank and treated her with maracyn. After 5 days the patches cleared up and her fin started to heal but her back remained crooked. It's been 2 weeks since then and her back it the same, she still has trouble swimming but she does eat and moves around more.
Is she still sick, or could the disease have left her paralyzed?
Any advice would be greatly apreciated!

Oooh...doesn't sound good. Seems like neon tetra disease to me. I don't think there is a cure for it and I am not sure if your guppy is still carrying the parasite. But to make sure your other fish aren't harmed. I'd keep that guppy separated for now.

I sure hope you find out what this is I will tell you this that the vet told me that it was some kind of parasite that causes this I had a mollie that gave birth and done the same thing I even posted here about this fish and no one could help me so I took the fish to the vet she didnt help me much either she told me a parasite caused this but personally I dont think she knew what she was talking about either. after about a week or so after she got that s shape she started head standing then three or four days after that she died and I never did really find out what went wrong. I really dont think that they are much you can do when this happens if it were my fish I would put it down because I have been threw it and they dont get any better. Ithink after so many babies thier organs shut down and causes them to get that S shape.

Well, it's been a month since that fish got sickand all the other fish are fine so I don't think anyone else is infected. Right now she's in a little self contained 1 gal. tank by herself with good filtration, light and a hiding place. Since she's been in there she's perked up considerably, still hides a lot but she'll eat a little and is getting more active so I'm not gonna give up on her just yet. I'll read up on Neon Tetra Disease and keep an eye on her, so long as she doesn't get any worse I figure I'll just keep her away from the other fish and see how she does.
Thank you both for your speedy advice!
