Hello I need some help with my clown goby. All of the sudden it looks like there are clear warts all over him. They arent white like the ich I have seen but a transparent color, he also doesnt scratch on anything. I just got a new protein skimmer and I was wondering if the small microbubble got traped under the skin/scales or if its something else that can be cured. I dont want him to die!

Thank you for helping out if you can. Sorry I dont have a camera

Its highly likely its a micro bubble.. its not under the skin though, more likley to be a micro bubble stuck on its mucus.

You mention that you have installed a new protien skimmer... There should be no micro bubbles entering the tank at all. if this is happening then you should cut back the flow to the skimmer so the bubbles dont get back into the tank.

Each tiny bubble that escapes back into the tank is a bubble that is carrying protien with it and thus the skimmer isnt doing its job efficiently :*) If you can stopthe bubbles from getting in the tank then your mystery illness wioll very likely dissapear ;)

If i am wrong then dont be worried too much. If the fish is eating happily and not showing signs of stress then its highly likely it will be strong enough to fight off whatever it is whats causing this.

Thank you for helping. But now I have questions about the protein skimmer. I just put it in yesterday and the lfs that I bought it from said that there will be bubbles for about 3 weeks and then they will go away. Is that normal? its a sea clone 100.

Thank you

Hmm... sorry, Im not the best at answering anything technical about skimmers. I just know the basics to be honest and micro bubbles should not be released back inot the tank.
If its anything like the Prizm skimmer then it should be adjustable.. on the prizm you can adjust the flow so that the micro bubbles dot get back into the main tank. if there is a way to do this then simply cut the flow down slowly until the bubbles cease to appear in the tank and it sould be adjusted properly.

But as i mentioned, Im not the best to offer advice on such devices (as i dont use them). However, there are others on here with far more knowledge than i have on this subject.
