So I have a 75 gallon tank. It has 2 fire red dwarf gouramis, 2 neon blue dwarf gouramis, a handful of skirt tetras and neon tetras, 1 cory, 1 bristlenose plec, 1 african butterfly fish, 1 black ghostknife, 2 cherry barbs [others recently died] so the tank has been running for a long time, and no problems. But i caught the fire red gouramis who i thought were both males, spawning. There is a bubble nest and eggs. I have NO clue what to do because I wasnt expecting this at all. I cant get another tank, my parents made a rule for just this tank. So Im clueless on what to do at this point. Ive been reading up about it but still pretty clueless on it. Any advice? And the male chases the female every so often but there are plants and a lot of caves that shes taking refuge in. Then she'll occasionally go up to the nest and they will spawn aagggaaain. Also, one of my neon blue gouramis seems to be chasing the other.

They should be pretty easy to sex, the females are grey/brown. Well if you can't get another tank the fry are pretty much toast. After the are fry swimming for a day or two the male ( dad ) will eat them aswell along with all the other fish in there.

Hmmm thats odd, well I have seen some bright females in the past. So I guess theres a chance, or you have really healthy gouramis. I'm sure its the second one. Its too bad about not getting another tank. If you do decide to breed them in a different tank, all you need is a 10 gallon.

I would love to, i have a 10 gallon, 2 2.5 gallons, and a 29 gallon all in the attic but my parents like run my life and im not allowed to touch them anymore. I wish I could save them. The most I have is a breeders net ha.

Hya - really sorry to hear that you can't rear them. Ripley's right you don't have a lot of chance without a seperate tank. I just wanted to comment that I don't even think a 10 gallon is big enough though. I fell into that trap not expecting many to survive and loads of them lived! I ended up growing on 200 babies in a four foot tank (having moved them from 2 other tanks which were too small). Even then they were grossly over crowded, needed 5 sponge filters and daily 50% water changes to keep the nitrates down!

Yea ill just let nature take its course, I doubt that have annnny chance of surviving with the fish i got in there. Ah well, I wish I could save them

I used to have lots of gouramis gotta be careful with them and other fish those long whiskers and fins tend to get alot of fish to nibble on them. After my goruamis i moved to a more aggressive fish the tiger barbs which were fun
