Hi All

My dwarf Gourami has a 5mm lump just below his dorsal fin, it seems white underneath and is sticking out quite a bit. Its only on one side as well.

The only thing I can think of is it being a cancer of some sort, as it looks nothing like a sore or ulcer.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks

To me it sounds like an ulcer with a secondary bacterial infection causing the white color you described. Antibiotics are what you need to treat both these things but it would be a good idea to isolate the fish before you start the treatment. Adding a little salt (if you isolate) will also help and it would be a good idea to make sure the temperature in the isolation tank/bucket is not above 75-76 deg F but not too low either. If you have access to medicated food, feeding that would be good too.
