My Fluval Edge

they are very timid fish when in a small group, no doubt given time they will come out of their shells so to speak, but they will take a while to get used to it, they may well take a few days to settle in and start eating, i probably wouldn't bother with anything other than flake really, and it won't cloud the water if you only put in what they eat, they won't eat an awful lot at the best of times and yes you will get away with feeding every other day but feed until they stop eating, not too ;little but not too much, it will only become a problem if you have un-eaten food laying around for days, though the shrimps would munch on bits of flake no doubt, also kuhli loach's will eat off the bottom, as would pygmy corydoras.

I'd go with other plants such as Anubias and Crypts instead of moss balls, Mossballs are actually a type of algae and don't grow very fast so they don't really do anything towards removing nitrates. You could try and grow real mosses as well which could be tied to the rocks you have.

cardinals aren't massive waste producers, and as far as space goes 10 cardinals have as much space as 1 cardinal, each 1 still has 23 litres of water to swim in, having 10 won't restrict their space, i said up the numbers in order to make them happier, feel safer and there fore actually start eating.
and as far as plants go, the op never mentioned wanting plants, we only suggested moss balls as an alternative to the plastic ones, also other plants would not hold the amount of micro organisms in the amount of space a moss ball would, the shrimps would probably benefit a lot more from a moss ball than a 'average' aquarium plant.
it was only suggestions, just ignore me if needs be!!

the OP doesn't want real plants, i suggested moss balls for the shrimp. Ben, moss balls don't spread like algae though, just though i'd add that.

Thanks for all the suggestions and info guys and gal. I will give the moss balls a good think about. maybe when I have the fish and every thing else sorted I can look at real mosses. Not really interested in any other plants. I want a simple looking tank to go with the simple lines of the Edge. The makers of the tank have gone to a lot of trouble to get every thing looking neat and tidy so I think a simple, neat, tidy tank will suit this best.

The Cardinals have been in there now since sunday (Dont worry water quality worriers, the tank is two months old) and are slowly coming out of their shell I think. I was able to sit next to the tank befor without them hiding in the corner, they acctually came to the front of the tank after a while! progress! lol

I'll post a few more pics in a week or two when I get some khuli loaches. Thanks for enlightening me to them dave :D

I wasn't saying he shouldn't go for moss balls, I was just giving my opinion and what I would do, the OP can take what ever advice he/she likes.

Nice tank, don't think I've seen them on display yet, are they all the same size?

chill guys and gals im open to all ideas and suggestions :D

Nice tank, don't think I've seen them on display yet, are they all the same size?

They are in pets at home on display all the time, but they want near £100. I got mine online for £80 delivered. I believe they only come in one size which, if I remember correctly, is 26 Litres. :D

They are a pretty awesome tank. A lot of people dont like the fact they're only 26 ltr and that there is only a small gap, about 15cm x 15cm (at a guess) for maintenance. But you do get 360 degree viweing (so you can look down ontop of your fish) which I love. Because the water fills to the top and goes above the top/roof of the tank it looks like the tank has no water in it some times.....if you know what I mean lol...and then the way all cables etc are hidden, its just a very clean neat looking tank :D

Saw these on eBay and thought they might have been dodgy looking in real life. You've shown me otherwise, I love the aquascape as well good stuff!
