Yeeviabetta you have many lovely looking bettas but the kinks in their tails worry me- betta breeding realy isn't my area, im more of a livebearer person, but i know much on the effects of inbreeding and i know that kinks in livebearer offspring or adults is a sign of too much inbreeding in the genetics and generally isn't a good sign.
I don't know if this is the same with bettas but i don't see why it shouldn't be, it will probably be worth it that you don't breed from bettas with kinks in their tails or other parts of their bodys as this indicates inbreeding, and inbred fish have lowered imune systems and often suffer other effects of this disorder like sudden death sydrone and genetic swim bladder disorders etc.

Tokis is right, a kinked spine can be a sign of inbreeding, but it could also just be from poor water quality or disease. As long as you don't breed any with kinked spines with their own siblings, I don't think it should cause any huge problems in the spawns... just make sure you breed them with unrelated fish if you decide to breed them

Oh, I am not thinking of breeding him. I got him and his mate as freebies. Unless someone wants to breed him up. He is a very cute too dark orange doubletail and the owner said he got marble geno in it. Since he is a doubletail, it is hard to tell unless you know what a fault is in a betta. You know me, I inspected very carefully in each betta one. LOL I can be an uncertified judge. LOL So far, there is two person love to adopt the freebies from me. I will talk to them tomorrow and see who is the best candidate. LOL Too late tonight because I just log in and I just got to know their pm. Actually I just wanted to post some more pictures for Kelly. Her babies are crying and being bad spitting bubbles at me. LOL.

I can see a fish is inbreeding that deformation it's tail after seeing the babies started swimming in a week or two. The other is after a month old babies and started to kinked it's tail so must be the water polution. That is why I got two possible answers in my head but I want to make sure I am on the target. If I got time and the space, I won't mind to do the experiment but I got other real pair want to have the breeding tank. LOL They been waiting for so long. LOL Opps. )

synirr, it is fun to have a bunch of bettas at home but they really takeout your time so much. Why because you can seat there and watch the babies swimming, growing, eating and doing funny thing like exploring what is going on the surrounding. The daddy is so funny too. He just doesn't care I was watching, feeding or even sucking the bottom tank. Daddy knows what I am doing. Hehe.

I still need to take the picture in my ceramics studio where the 75 gallon tank filled with red chillies babies. LOL They are cute to watch! All RED!!!

I am just talking about the freebie that has a kinked spine. He is another dark orange doubletail. He is big. I will take his picture tomorrow for you guys to see. He is cute too.
The babies that has a kink tail and also deformation any where will be culling. I have too. This is somehow need to be learn by any breeders. I read the IBC and I have to do it. Some who don't know how to get big also I have culling rather than killed by it's bulling big sibling.

It will be all the ones that I drag home from stupid WalMart or somewhere else...

I should see if they sell containers in the shape of mini mobile homes, so I could have my little trailer trash veils living in a little "Trailer park" of tanks at my house. hee hee!

I would be in my glory to be surrounded by so many beautiful healthy fish like you are. I am just surrounded by somewhat pretty sickies all the time. LOL

Thank you members for the compliments. You haven't see my ceramics studio yet. LOL A 75 gallon full of red chilli bettas mostly with some MIXs and a 30 gallon tank too with other blue lines. In the studio, I will build my new design of Barracks that hold 200 beanie box! June will be my really schedules to build. Right now I get some parts that I am working on and thinking about my design how I want the water flow perfectly. I don't want to change the barrack water everyday now! too much!!! I just want to do once in 6 weeks clean up.

Hahahaha. Don't tell your hubby that my bettas are going to spread into my garden soon. Too cool for right now at night. LOL So far only bathroom don't have betta in my house. They don't like there because it stink when someone using them. The betta will faint and jumping out their tank. LOL
