HI everyone. I am a new member to this site. I read through most of the forums and I found it very helpfull. I know I will be here for a while. Curently me and my hunny have two 20gal tanks set up. One has Angel fish, Electric Yellow Labidochromis, black ghost, 4 guppies, and a pleco. Second tank has 1 Oscar. So i thought i would share my pictures with you. No pictures of Oscar thought. I will get some soon.

Its 2:30 am and I can't sleep. Watching over my pregnant guppy.

Sooo thats my babies lol Hopefully soon I will post pictures of my mommy guppy and some fry.

i think i'm wrong but i thought african cichlids should not be kept with angels. hmmm

Hi guys

My LFS told me I could only keep one black ghost knife fish, was he wrong? I would love more than one of these little fellows, they are cool!

Also, I hope you don't mind me high jacking your loop but I thought I would ask as you keep them! I bought my BGK a couple of days ago and feed frozen bloodworm, yet I haven't seen him eat any yet, any idea as to what I can do to encourage him please?

20 gallons is not enough for the fish you have.
The black ghost knife can reach 12" or more, so will need an upgrade.
The oscar can obtain 12" or more, and requires a MINIMUM a 55 gallon tank.
If the plec is a common plec, that can also reach 12" and more.
I would think about finding new homes for the oscar, BGK and plec (possibly even the yellow lab).

Sorry to put a downer on your fish, but I'm just warning you of their size.

lovely fish, but as mentioned they are all really unsuitable for the tank you have :(

Black ghost Knife fish will hit 16" as will the Plec and Oscar will also hit about 12"...then the Yellow Lab is a total different water setup....Honestly, id say either buy a nice large tank 75gall + or sell them all and get fish suitable for the tank.

Terriann - we were also advised on not to have 2 Ghots in one tank. however to the feeding part I found it hard at the beginging to feed him, then i went to local store and bought a clear plasstic tube. Cut it the length i needed and cut out a "lip" therefore since he mostly hides a day time i just put that tube into the cave and drop his food in there. He eats his pellets, but prefers frozen foods like Brime shrimp, Blood worms and Frozen tropic foods. it takes a while for them to sink to the bottom however he does gets it in a few min. mine even goes up the tube to get his food. and in the evening when lights turned off he comes right out and feeds with others.

To everyone else - Thanks for your advice. since we wern't planing on having oscar just yet. but my friend was getting tired of him eating her fish, and she was gonna flush him down the toilet, so i took him b/c i could not let her kill him. I knew that oscar will need bigger tank ( so we are looking to purchase 100g and keep 20g for fry and as an emergency tank) BUT BGK the store told us that he wouldn't grow much bigger when we bought him, then i noticed how big he was getting. so yeah we will upgrade him to a bigger tank. shortly after christmas.as a gift i am getting 55g from my parents so i hope that would be enough for the BGK.

other then that the tank i got now is freindly. none of them fight eachother. not sure about Yellow lab. i have to do more reaserch on it.

but yeah thanks evryone for the advice.

Nice pics. the ghost fish needs a bigger tank so the oscar. 1 oscar needs 75 gal.

Nice setup, but I (like many others) wish to point out that you've got a pretty bad stock there. The yellow labs need a tank of there own, with other african cichlids as they like hard, alkalin waters, the BGK will eventually hit 14"+ aswill the pleco and oscar. You should really considering finding homes for these guys. Also, you're guppies and angel will slowly begin to have their tails eaten away by one another.

Just a thought...
