My fish tank

So this is my 40 gallon...soon to b 29 gallon ..found out it was leaking...we tried to fix it once so we just bought a new one..in my tank I have 5 glofish tetra ...3 neon glofish tetra ..2 glofish cosmic blue danio...1 ghost shrimp...1 black tuxedo guppy...2 tequila sunrise guppies...1 yellow tailed guppy ...1 pleco...that will be moved in another tank soon...now I'm wondering ...I just bought aquarium salt ..is it a must ...should I put some in my tank will b safe for my snail

Why do you need to put in salt? If all you fish are alright there is no need for salt.

Only use salt for medical reasons, and id avoid using it with the pleco as well.

Glad to see another glo skirt keeper! I had two but my favourite recently passed. Neat fish, though many have differing opinions on them.

Awww poor fishy...well the pleco will b moving out ...I did easy strips test and everything seems to b alright...well I got the salt on hand if ever I need it...is this test strip.ok...do I need to test for anything else or add anything ..I'm new to this and think I got it but wanna make sure....cause I don't wanna lose any fishy

Your tank is colorful and I like the castle since you have no live plants make sure you keep up with weekly water changes

I will warn you about a couple of things though... 1( Zebra danios are known to be fin nippers and might try to nip the fins of your guppies. 2( I don’t see why you need to add aquarium salt, if they don’t have any illness. And 3( I suggest getting more GlowFish. They like to be in groups of 6 or more.

Your water is really too soft for guppies. There is no point in trying to change this because it is perfect for everything else you have. Its worth remembering if you do buy more fish, it would be best to stick to danios and tetras.

Baboo? You mean bamboo?

Bamboo plants are pretty cool. They come out of the water, which do nest work well if you don’t have a lid.

I really like Anacharis. You can grow it in really lush and it looks pretty.

If you want hard water for the guppies, use some Carribsea cichlid sand (the black and white one) because it has crushed coral and other stuff in it that will raise the water hardness. Depending how soft your water is will tell you how much you will need to increase the hardness. Do this in the new tank for the guppies.

Easy plants... anacharis is a good one, crypts (will appreciate a root tab), hornwort, ludwigia (will like liquid fertilizer)... there are many others. Anubias and java fern are good too.

There are 2 ways of doing this. The easiest is as described above by @NCaquatics. I have no experience of this but many others do. The other option is to use a mineral supplement. There are plenty to choose from and the way they work is to add the same amount to your new water every time you do a water change. How much you add depends on how much you want to increase the hardness. You should aim for somewhere around 200ppm - yours is less than 50. I use a product called salty shrimp GH/KH+ in one of my tanks, but there are other products.

If you choose this route make sure you get one that has the "correct" balance of minerals so you only need to add one thing. Some companies (Seachem springs to mind) expect you to use multiple which requires a lot more testing and amateur chemistry. In my case I simply add 1 teaspoon for every 10 litres of water I add. I only need to raise my water from 0 to 100, so I would expect that to get from 50 to 200 you would need 1.5 tsp for every 10 litres.

Anacharis and water sprite are two easy to care for plants that you can stick into the gravel or let float. They absorb what they need from the water which will help deal with ammonia too
