Some advice:

1. Red plants are always harder to grow than green ones. Avoid buying any red plants unless you really want to get into lighting, fertilizing, CO2 etc.
2. Dwarf hairs grass is again not easy to grow at all. Tends to brown from the middle and bottom and never get going unless it has perfect conditions.
3. There is a link to easy to grow plants in my sig. Start with any of those and you'll do fine.
4. Get yourself some bog wood or mopani wood and tie some java moss, christmas moss or anubias barteri var nana to it with cotton. This looks great and is dead ti to pull off.
5. The Red Tailed Black Shark is not a community fish. Gets very terratorial especially with anything of a similar colour / body shape. Really needs a 3 foot tank minimum and very heavily planted one at that in order to break up direct eye lines between it and other fish. Your tank looks far to small to keep it and you are guaranteed to have trouble if you do.

All the best

:good:

The red plants are not real ;)

thw dwarf hair grass was just put in and im going to buy more lighting soon,
the java moss was tide to a slate so it will bush out,
and as far as the red shark goes im amazed I have just found a compatability page saying he is bad with other fish,
Not had no problems he was given with a smaller tank recently And I moved him in,
Im going to get his own house for this reason and ,
thanks for reassuring me that I should move him

As for bog wood I might consider also when I go out but finding some place to put it will be hard,

Any idea on what the plant is just left of the moss, I plan to add some amazon sword plant forgot name,
Im going to change mine to be perefect for Neons/Guppy

Thanks for your critique Im looking to improve

That's probably why they look a bit crappy then

The one to the left of the java moss looks like an anubias species to me. Need a better pic really to be sure. Has it got relatively round, quite waxy, tough leaves and fairly stiff tough roots (Not really thin stringy ones). If so it should not be planted in the gravel and needs tying to a rock or piece of wood.

"That's probably why they look a bit crappy then"

 Like that alot :)

Well I guess I best buy some rocks then,
Im ashamed of my knowledge,
Mind you I had no idea what they were,
Just in the old tank I was given so stuck them in the gravel just like they were when I got them,

Maybe Ill get rid of the Slate add some bog wood and buy rocks to go around the outside or something..

thanks Very much and going to have to rehouse sharky or Re-home him :'(
