Can anyone advise me ? i have an established fluva tropical fish tank but have lost 3 fish in the last 3 weeks !! it is very clear and not over filled and also I have had water tested and levels are perfect !! What can this be and how do I stop this from happening ?

Hi Shaz,
May I ask you to provide a bit more information?
What were the symptoms before the fish died?
In regards to the perfect levels of the water, can you be more specific?
Have you changed/added anything recently?
What are the inhabitants of the tank?
What type of filtration do you have?
etc...

Hi Snazy

Fish are a bit lethargic and look a little thinner, I had full test done on amonia levels etc and all were fine, have not added anything new to the tank recently, its a fluval edge tank and we have the filter that comes with it in the tank. It is a 22 litre tank and we currently have one small tetra, one molly and two plattys and an african dwarf frog in the tank. We do regular water changes and the water is very clear. We also only feed small amount every second day and always have done. The tank has 3 media filters supplied with the tank. The fish only seem lethargic and slightly thinner before they die.thankyou for taking the time to respond.

22 liters? O___O That's a bucket!

Sheesh, luckily in Finland it's illegal to keep even a single fish in anything under 40 liters... Wow, that's horrifying.

How long have you had the frog? Frogs and fishes should never be kept in a same tank, frog poo is poisonous to fishes.

When was the last time you added fish to the tank?
If the fish looked thinner, did they actually have appetite? Any white feces?
If they were kind of thinner, then you may have had the sickness for quite a while. Not all type of fish diseases has a quick life cycle and may have been months in your tank, but just manifests when the fish are stressed, or from bad water quality.
