I'm not sure if this is an emergancy or not. . .

I just added the second dose of Kanacyn to cure the corys' and betta's fin rot (they are all in my 4 gallon). When I added the Kanacyn it came out in a little clump because it was compressed in the container, and my betta ate a bit of this! Will he be ok? -_-

Hi cutechic :)

Unless your betta ate a lot of it, he should be alright.

It just so happened that this afternoon I was at the lfs and while looking at the medications to see what was available to take the place of Kanacyn (by Aquatronics) I read the label of another Kanamycin product.

This one, who's active ingredient was also Kanamycin, said that it could be mixed with food to treat certain fish ailments.

Kanamycin is a drug that is absorbed into the fish's system through its skin, so it does not just treat the infection from the surface. Taken orally, if it didn't eat enough to overdose, should just get more a bit more medicine where it needs to be.

What a relief. I was so scared for him, since I don't know of anything that would make him get the medicine out of his system. Thanks for the reassurance :)
