So I've been watching my fish for the past two weeks and I noticed that they are starting to rub on every thing and I was wondering if it would be ich or some thing like that

What's your stock? It could be a result of stress, as I have a single glofish in my tank who when he gets stressed will rub on plants. If there is no other sign of ich, such as actual whitespot, i wouldnt take any action against it.

every ones been doing fine, me and my mom were talking bout it and we thought it was but it might just be stressed or some thing like that as said above, i was just wondering why fish do this some times

i have
4 black fin tetras
2 tiger barbs
4 neons to serpaes
2 glow light tetras
3 white clouds
2 corys
i lost a couple fish after christmas, and im in the process of replacing a few fish, my barbs being one of them, i already got rid of a few

I don't need to bash or offend you in any way, but your stocking is pretty bad. How big is the tank? I understand you've lost fish, and maybe the stocking is why the fish are stressed. You have a lot of schooling fish that need to be in schools of 6 fish minimum, and none are. If they are continually stressed, their immune systems go down, and then are more susceptible to diseases like ich. Please don't take any offense, i'm just trying to help you out.

Ya Ik It was my first time stocking a tank myself so i made the newbie mistake :/
I moved them from a 15 to a 30 gallon but I do plan on fixing it I'll have the money to fix the problem

Crossfire is right, it's more than likely stress. I've had issues with the same thing but it got to the point where the whole tank of fish was flashing against plants, gravel, stones - anything they could really. I'm currently treating for gill flukes as there's been no sign of whitespot coming out.

I'd follow crossfires advice, watch them for a while. If it's the odd fish put it down to stress. If the entire tank starts doing it and there's no sign of white spots then it could be gill/body flukes.

Hope it sorts itself out

That's good, and if you have the money, I recommend this stocking for a 30 gal:

10x black fin tetras
8x neons
6x glow light tetras
6x corys

If you'd like, you can bump whichever fish you like better up. Also, you can get amano shrimp for algae control, and have as many as you want, they don't contribute to the bioload :good:

Are you taking water readings when you see the flicking? What are they?

My four amanos produce more poo than my fish!

Mine do too, but it doesn't actually do anything :dunno:

i agree with the above posts. I think you will see a lot less flicking and rubbing once you get your fish into the correct numbers. Just monitor your tank, and #16##### soybean said, check your water parameters! If your ammonia and nitrite is anything BUT 0 you need to do a water change.

I really hope we can help you figure this out. We want you to have happy fish :)

i havent taking any water readings, i have been a little short on money to buy any thing extra, the water where i live usually has a little more chlorine and other stuff in it more than usually during the winter
but ive been changing the water once a week lately,

i defiantly will take crossfires advice i got money last night from my dad for babysitting this week, so ill be making a trip my lfs, and seeing if i can trade a few of my fish out which i hope i can i dont see why not when you can trade in common plecos when they get to big

Maybe get the LFS to test your water if you don't have the tests. If you do, make sure you ask them to give you the exact reading. It's not normal for fish to flick like that. There must be an irritant in the water of some kind, whether it's an overdosed dechlorinator, ammonia, parasites, or another chemical it's impossible to say.
How often have you changed the water. From you post it kind of sounds that you only recently started to change it every week.

Are you using a dechlorinator when you do a water change?

Ya I started changing it once a week, they stopped and haven't done it in a couple days

And yes I use dechlorinater when I do water changes
