My Fish Are Fat!

That's because my 3 year old daughter poured, yes poured, the flake food into the tank this morning. Apparently my fish had so much to eat they stopped swimming around and were just "hovering" in one spot with big fat bellies and food all over the substrate. I got most of it out, but I'm sure my corydoras and my Amano will be having a good time. Ugh! Kids! I sure hope this won't have too big of a negative impact on my fish. Can they over-eat themselves to death? I sure hope not!!

the can over eat, they can get constipated and can die.

Boil some peas, take the shells off and mash them up a little and feed them to the fish, it will help digest what they have over eaten

if that fails and they wont eat the peas you can dose the tank with epsom salts at a ratio of 1 teaspoon per 5 to 10 gallons .

Ok, that's good to know. I've given them peas before, so they should eat them with no problem. Got some on the stove as I type. My SAE and my betta are the two most noticeably fat.

My fish greedily ate the peas, BTW. Hopefully, all the fish that ate the flake food also had a helping of pea as well.

I would test your water stats asap over the next few of days as it may have a big impact on your water quality and filter fficentcy to handle any uneaten food.
