Hi all,

I have my tank set-up for two weeks now, and I have lost 3 fish and possible another one tonight if im unlucky!

I have a 125l tank, and I have been doing 30% water changes every other day due to ammonia levels being about 5 and maybe a lil bit higher at times. When I started off my ammonia etc was all FINE!

I currently feed once a day, and only a small pinch which they eat in under a minute

1 fish apparently died by swimming into the side of the tank - male sailfin molly
1 fish was attacked or summot, and lost his rear fin - albino cory
1 fish I have no idea - albino cory
and the possible one, it keeps resting on the bottom and then swims vertically and sometimes it tries not to go upside down.

I have done a water change in the past hour, and I am keeping the lights off trying not to stress them out atm.

Can anyone help me at all with what maybe be happening with my tank and babies??

Was the tank cycled before you added the fish.
Fish will die to bad water quality it burns there skin and damages there gills.
Water changes, and increase aeration.
How many fish and which type are in the tank?

roma 125l tank

now 6 fish

i have an air stone

Well as far as I know of the tank was cycled lol as I got the guys at P@H to test the water on numerous occassions.

I test the water daily and if amounts are too high then i change the water

Just found the dodgy one in the front corner upside down, so ive rested my net on the side and put him in that the lights are out!!! I dont wana loose him, I feel like im a murderer killing my children! I can see why kids cry when their fish die now! :-(

You need to read up on a cycling tank.
Once fish are upsdie down not good usually there dying.

Yes I have read and it and to what I believed the tank was cycled!

I do a water test everyday and only in the past few days the levels went a little bit higher but I changed a % of the water and it dropped back down to what it should be

NOO i don't want him to die though I can't bare loosing ANOTHER one!

What type of fish are in the tank at the moment what to see if your tanks overstocked.

Like I said I have 6 fish its far from overstock

2 small cories
2 sailfin mollies
2 balloon mollies - now one if it will die

:-(

Ok thats fine wondered if you had a big fish in the tank.
What is your nitrite and nitrate reading.
It can take several weeks for a tank to cycle when you have added a few fish to the tank.

Nitrate before I changed was a weak 40

and nitrite was 5-10, that was after two days without doing a change so prob IMO the tank is actually not cycled when we thought/told it was

Test your tap nitrate reading that will tell us how long you have to go.

Right Ok the tap nitrate is 0 but the colour is a bit stronger than on the car so prob a 2/3ppm

Have you left the test for half an hour.
What make of test kit is it.
