I thought peoples might like to see my first two little Guppy fry?

I took these photos on Tuesday, so they were two days old. You could already see that there was a colour difference between them, with one being pinkish and the other being darker. I'm thinking the pinky one might end up being albino, or 'blonde', like it's mummy, who I'm positive is Geisha.

So, this is mummy Geisha with Lemon, who I'm sure is daddy...

And a nice one of Lemon stealing the attention...

Sorry for the redness in the photos. I didn't have a background back then, but I have a black one now. Also I was treating the tank hence why there's no filter cartridge. It looks better now.

And these are the two babies. Who, untill I think of real names, are called Lucky and Suds... 'cause I think they were : )

They're five days old today and I can see that the darker one has a lovely tiny little dark spot on his tail. It's like a beauty spot : 3

I'll take more photos as they get older if peoples would like to see?

aww cute :)

We like pictures of fry :D

I've raised a lot of fry now but I still get excited when I see more being born - and upset when I'm not quick enough and they get eaten :(

Thanks Akasha : )

I didn't see them being born, so I suppose that's something to luck forward to.

Yeah, there were only the two left when I found them so if I think about I know that the rest were eaten, But in a way I know that's good 'cause it means all the weak, sick and/or deformed babies would have been eaten and there's no chance of them suffering in the long run. These two look to be fine, no bent spine etc.

And I can't beleive how quick they're growing! Every time I come down in the morning it's like they've had a growth spurt. And every day I can see a new little hint as to how they're going to look when they're older : )
It's very interesting to watch the stages. I'm keen to see how they grow and the colours they end up being. I'm guessing there's going to be some red and some yellow in there somewhere.

fry constantly surprise me, especially guppy fry. I have a male and female pair left (I don't want anymore guppies) both are electric blue. The female had some fry about 4/5 weeks ago and some of them had black tails!

It is good watching them grow though and seeing what they become.

I have quite a few platy fry at the moment and watching their colours develop is great. I have 5 that are going to be really pretty. Their mum is a silvery/white and the dad is mostly black/dark green. The fry are a silver with black/green speckled markings - none are alike.

So so cute.... My guppie fry are about 2 weeks old now and I have one left from another batch born march 29th ( the others were given away) he is stunning IMO, he has a red and yellow tail and is starting to get the yellow colour on his body now, and I have another single platy fry less than a week old, my mollie fry are almost 3 months, for me there is nothing more exciting than watching them grow and change colour.

Thanks both : )

Yep, it's really interesting. They're both growing like weeds (presumably 'cause I'm having to do a big water change every day?) so I think they're going to be big like their mummy, and if Lemon is the dad then I'm hoping they'll have some of his 'shimmer' to them.

The darker one keeps getting darker but the light one is still mostly pinkish and see-through! But I can imagine that they might well suprize me and turn out something compleatly unexpected : 3

My Panda I think is going to be the next mummy Guppy. She's getting bigger by the day. Her and Sunny were friends, with her chasing him round the tank till he chased her back X ) So I'm hoping Sunny was who got her pregnant 'cause I'm really, really hoping I get a Sunny Boy JR.

Well, now!

So yesterday I was doing the usual water change, and weather it's purely through paranoia or what I always check the crate that I put the old water in to make sure there's nothing living in there that I might have sucked up by accident. I also have two old fridge draws that my mam gave me out of her old fridge and at the minuet I'm using one to keep the fry net in while I change the water and the other I'm using to fill the tank back up with.
So I've done that and put the fry back in the main tank in their net. And I'm just about to tip the old water out outside and I go to check it first. Good job I did too 'cause there, in the corner, was a quite confused tiny little fry! The poor thing must have been sucked up the gravel syphon.
So I catch him in a little lid and put him in with the other two. He sits at the bottom for a long while and I'm worried that the stress might have gotten to him. But two hours later he's quite happily swimming around in the net with his much bigger siblings : )

But wait, there's more!

So I'm giving the now three fry their afternoon feed and I see what I thought was a bit of dead plant stuck to the side of the net, between it and the glass. so I go to pick it out and what is it? A fry!
So I pick him out and he goes in with the now four fry X )

But wait, there's more!

I go to sit down and just as I do out of nowhere, what do I catch swimming by the bogwood? Go on, have a guess ; )

So I now have five fry : 3 The poor things must have been starving. I'm only feeding the adults every two/three days to keep the water as clean as I can at the minuet and so they're eating every last scrap. So there would have been nothing left for the fry to eat. They must have ventured out to look for food elsewhere. They're much smaller than the first two are, one is so tiny he's almost lost in the net. But they're all feeding and swimming around quite happily : )

But wait... you want to know the best bit about this story?

They're orange!!!

Wanna see? ; )

They're so flightly it's hard to get good photos of them right now, but here's one of the little fry who'd wedged himself behind the net before I caught him and put him in it instead

And some of them when they were all in the net...

The flash washes their colour out a bit, they look properly tangoed! So naturally their nicknames for now are Tango, Fanta and Orangina X )

Of all the photos I've seen of fry I don't think I've ever seen orange ones, especiallynot ones so young. In these photos they're only six days old.

I'm not sure I've seen orange adult Guppies either. I've seen ones that have a yellow base colour, and ones with a red base colour but I'm not sure about orange?

Does anyone have any idea's what these little suprizes could turn out to be? Has anyone ever had orange Guppy fry like these?

It's getting quite interesting now ; )

Just done this mornings water change and guess what? I found another one, and he's orange too! : 3

Omg little orange fry they are just so cute! I love finding fry. I have 3 stages of guppy fry in my tank at the moment lol. I have never had an orange fry! Good luck with them!

Congrats on finding all these fry! :hyper:

Thanks both : )

I found two more yesterday, and they're both orange too! Bringing the total so far to eight baby Fish : 3

I'm calling this drop "The Fantango's". X D

Down to six : (

Two got stuck under the plastic rim around the bottom of the net they're in. One of the little orange 'Fantango' ones and the lovely clear/pink one. They must have got stuck last night 'cause I'm forever counting them to make sure they haven't dissapeared. What can I do about that to stop it hapening again? I still have the spare tank up and running but I can't put them in there yet with them being so tiny, they're only eight days old. They'd just get sucked into the filter.

I'm quite upset. And cross actually. They were perfectly healthy and fine and probably would have still been here if they hadn't got stuck.
