well where we go the redtail shark from (a mr Fish a proper tropical centre) told me these days they dont grow very big, and said it would be fine in my tank, I ask all sorts of quetions, as for buzzy (cory) he seems happy flitting about, I got him from pets at home when he first set up and they said we could only have one, be he seems happy with the shark, as for the plants there all plastic,, it had trouble with the plants i got from Pets at home and each time we brought new real ones i ended up with which spot, fin rot so took them all out,, (well when our local pets place tested peoples water they tipped it in the plant water so was not happy,,

well just been looking up on my shark, yep, 15cm, well if he gets that big, it would be the perfect excuse i need to have a bigger tank :) obviously very stupid of me listening to a tropical fish supplier,

It's not an IF, it's a definite. And also it will become very agressive to your other fish in what is (to it) a very confined space. They have been known to kill fish before when kept in small tanks :(
As they mature these fish are very territorial so need space in order to set up a territory and feel comfortable enough to share that with others.
The recommended minimum is 50gal (200l), and that has to be a long tank vs a tall tank.

that was a very expensive error, over £300 for 200l at pets, i will watch my redtail so far his not been agressive at all, just swimming about the bottom and middle, mind you the shrimps have a go at him sometimes lol, i have only had him for 3 months,

It's pretty much inevitable, but so long as you're aware of it and have a plan for when it happens then that should be fine. If for some reason you don't have an agression issue then there is still the fact it grows to be a big fish. Soon as it hits around 6cm you need to start planning an upgrade in the near future. You could upgrade through stages (and keep the smaller tank each time ;) ) but eitherways it's definitely best to either upgrade or rehome.
So say when he hits 6cm ish (or starts being agressive) look at getting him into a 120l tank (get it second hand...wayyyy cheaper and so long as it's only a couple of years old then it's not a problem). Then when he hits around 10cm (or agression doesn't subside/starts) look at getting the 200l.
