Hi Guys

This is the first time I have ever been in the position to be able to afford a tank. I have got myself a Juwel 240 which i think look great in my lounge. I am a carpenter by trade so purpose built the unit which it is sitting.

If any of you have any tips re the setup please let me know, its only 11 days into its cycle. Oh yeah in case any of you mention it, I know one of my plants is a cabomba which is already looking a bit sad due to lack of light.

Cheers

Lookin good mate! And welcome to the forums!

Once those plants fill out youll be well on your way!

looks very nice and nice job on the unit!

reakon it would of looked good if you got the tank in beech to match though!!

i think the plant up front looks a bit like java fern, if thats the case it won't like being buried in gravela nd will do best being tied to wood or rock, i use cotton thread myself which in time breaks up hopefully after the plant is rooted.

Very NICE my friend.... :kewlpics: Are you doing a fishless cycle cause I don't see any fish...

what do you plan on putting in there? 240 liters is around 100 gallons right? i would go with oddballs unless i'm wrong

Hi Guys Thanks for the replies,

I didn't really like the beech as it seemed a bit too orange for my liking, the unit is a sandy colour the same as the wall so it all blends in and i have a matching unit on the other side of the fireplace which my Plasma sits on.

Very NICE my friend.... Are you doing a fishless cycle cause I don't see any fish...

Yeah i am doing a fishless cycle, day twelve now and my ammonia has dropped off so just the big wait for the nitrites to drop.

what do you plan on putting in there? 240 liters is around 100 gallons right?

240 litres is 53 uk gallons or 63 us gallons which ever you wanna use.I have a few fish in mind but it changes daily,, a few i'm thinking of are-

Pearl Danio's
Harlequins(raspbora heteromorpha)
Bleeding Heart Tetras
Cardinal Tetras
Bronze Cory

Not tooo sure what else yet, anybody got some good reccomendations for me ? One thing is for sure i've picked up a few snails on my plants so want a loach to get rid of em but not one that'll grow too big, again any ideas are welcomed.

Cheers

Just to keep you updated on my forst tank, it is evolving nicely i think, i've added some more plants cos i thought that a bit more cover was needed. What are your thoughts, overkill on the plants ?
