My First Tank

there is a big update on this tank, i now have white sand in it and it has a lot of plants in! and a nice bit of bogwood. I also got some unexpected visitors with the plants, loads of baby snails! will take a pic when the camera has charged to see if someone can identify them, I was going to buy some tomorrow so that has saved me some money! :D going to try and get some minnows tomorrow if i get the time, the tank is cycled (got some mature filter media which has been going for over 3 weeks now) I have ordered one of those aquarium hoovers to mop up some of the dead leaves that have come off the plants because there are some green patches on the sand, but i dont mind it to b honest.

pics to follow soon! :good:

Nice background, what did you use as adhesive?

just blu tack to be honest mate and it is working a treat suprisingly :good:

is that a lite-glo tank. if so i had the exact same one as you can see in my signature pic. good tank. pretty light weight for a 4ft too. although i paid £100 for mine with stand and a few other bits n bobs,

from the booklet i got with it I think it is mate, I swapped some quad tyres for mine which where worth around £100 too, and I got the filter with it so I am well pleased and so is my pal who I did the trade with :D although it isnt a very big tank to the peeeps on here it is massive to me, after seeing the prices at fish shops!!!

here are the pics, couldnt get any clear ones of the snails but have added them anyway!
the pics are in order, the last been what it looks like now :good:

the plain sand looks considerably better than that pebble conglomeration u had before. the snails just look like ordinary pond snails. if u want a red tailed black shark (rtbs) then a heater will be necessary. 4ft is a good size beginners tank.

but if u want ideas on what fish and how many to stock it with, i suggest creating a separate thread in a different forum section (most ppl only come to this specific part to look at photos)

are all the plants real or is it a mix of real/fake?

I agree, I wanted a bright substrate so i can see the inhabitants more cleary, it is also handy to see anything that needs hoovering up :) have added some pebbles to make it look more natural and am pleased with the results. I have also added a heater, so I am going tropical :D. All the plants are real :good:

have added 12 rummy nose tetra's and they seem to be doing very well :hyper: busy little fella's! :fun:
