My First Tank

Hi all this is my first tank.

just started it last night after moving into my first house.

all that is in it at the moment is water and black gravel .

i will update when i make more progress, any suggestions with what i should do.

hopefully this will be an ongoing thing so you can see how it develops

nice tank,

whats your plans for maturing the tank?
 
i am now doing a fishless cycle and waiting till its all ok.

i dont know what i am going to do with the tank yet but my girlfriend wants red fish - any ideas ??

i am unsure of the gallons question i will measure it tonight and let you know

Nice setup!!!!!!!I love black gravel!!!

I can already picture this as a tank with rocks inbeded in the gravel with some really nice valisneria if you gonna go live plants.OOOOOOOOO, just my personal opinion.

You should set it up as you want it to look.

Red fish can only be platies!!!YES YES platies..HAHAHA

yup i'm pretty sure you can get red swordies, there's loads of shopaling fish that have red on them too, harlequin rasbora's are a lovely little shoaling fish :good:
 
You can go with red zebra danios. They're gorgeous, but it depend on ur tank size. If you have a 20 gallon tank size, then you can get a group maybe 5-6 of them.
 
Ok bought a few more things for the tank - basic things let me know your thoughts -

i was told to treat my tank with this stuff and in a week or so take a sample to my lfs and he would test it for me

Thought id show my filter system it is an enclosed container with three sections the two end sections contain balls with slots in them ( hard to describe really) the middle section has a bag of carbon

And last night i kind of sorted the gravel out and put in the heater
