Hi all, finally set this up after a couple of months and a long cycle and loads of complications. My apartment has been filled with sand and with water but I think the result is worth it.

I am off on holiday next week and didn't want to have to re-cycle when getting back so ran out and bought a few plants and fish. At the moment there are 10 neon tetras and 6 kuhli loaches in quite a sizeable tank. The tetras were an impulse (cheap) but they are cool looking fish.

When I get back next month I will plant the tank properly and throw in more fish. I hope to move on to lots of shrimp and maybe a mussel or two. The tank has a long way to go, but I like where its going. Unfortunately only iPhone pictures for now, might find the DSLR later.

The general tank setup.

The little canyon between the rocks proves to be a really interesting place, since everyone congregates there at some point.

These guys are awesome. The zebra ones lay around or forage, but the black ones are really quite active, searching the top of the rocks and the plants. They don't seem stressed at all, just really curious.

Thanks all, hope to have more pics up soon.

Those blue and black fish remind me of neon gupies you get in marine lawl.

In saying that what is it? Surely its not a kuhli as they dont come in that colour?

The ones in the top photo would be neon tetras in motion. The one on the bottom is a Kuhli. Here's 2 of the Kuhlis out and about:

Ooh it almost looks blue and black xD

Cool tank though, needs a ton of plants

Yea as soon as I get back from holidays I will load it up, I'd also like moonlights and a second filter, both of which I know nothing about.

Haha theres a lot of filters on offer cept am at work atm

Filter has whatever is built in to the tank. It's good for 500L/h which is perfectly acceptable for the few small fish I have in there at the moment, but as I build stock, I would like to ensure its really over-filtrated, money is no object - although physical space is. 2000L/H would be great.

Then I worry that if I overfiltrate the tank and then add a filter feeder (such as a mussel), it won't have any food.
