Hi,

I have taken pictures of this tank before in a thread in the beginner section but I thought now I've 'finished' with this tank I'd post some pictures of the finished article. In the tank are 5 tiger barbs, 5 danios, 5 platys, 5 neon tetras, 1 american flag fish and 1 bristle nose plec. There are numerous plants mostly crypts and I have a two 2l CO2 diy system going. I do like this tank but high hopes for my next tank  .

arguably the best plants to have in a rekord in my opinion ;) you cant beat a nice wall of vallis at the rear with some crypts in front, a small ammount of pegosteemon helferi infront of the wood would look very nice!

also set the CO2 systems so they dont need changing at the same time...try to make it so you can change the mixture in one about half way through the other cyclinders life...this way the Co2 supply will be near stable

Thanks guys  . I'm pleased with this tank. Nothing like watching it for a little while to unwind. That Vallis at the rear grows like nothing. Every week I end up cutting over half a foot off it! I swear I can hear it growing.

My CO2 is currently staggered with one bottle being changed every week but I might increase this to one bottle being changed every half week as I think the CO2 produced after two weeks is a little on the low side. I can see the appeal of a pressurized system now ;) .

oohhhhhhh.........pretty......and btw what type of lights do you have and what substrate and how much did the substrate and light cost cuz im also planning for a moderate planted tank.

As truck says my lights are two 18watt T8 tubes, with reflectors. The substrate is plain old gravel with JBL clay nutrient balls placed around the roots. This seems to work well.

I know what you mean about the algae - it's not visible but there is black algae on some of the leaves.

I know what you mean - I'm in the process of trying to ID the algea on my vallis. It's short black and hair like. It doesn't rub off easily and my bristlenose doesn't like it :( . Now it's starting to spread to other plants too!

black beard algae or hair algae...best bet is increased flow and increased CO2 along with a small spot dosing of easy carbo may help also

Increased flow - is there a cheap way of doing this without resorting to getting a new filter? My other tank is currently taking all my money!
