Hi, so you have 11 fry alone in a seperate tank from where their parents are , yes? Is the tank cycled/heated/filtered?

Personally i would just keep them in a floating trap in your main tank and feed them crumbled flake.

The parents are already making plans to supply you with another batch in a few weeks

Have you thought what you are going to do with your increasing stock?

I have them in a floating tank, well its more of a netted box that clips onto the inside of the tank. I would like to keep a few but as for the rest no idea.
Yes they are without parents.

This was an issue i had thought about when setting up my small tank. There can be no better feeling when looking after tropical fish and having a breeding pair give birth and then raising the little sprogs to be healthy and full of life.

Here is a consideration for you.

My LFS have confirmed to me today that should i be successful in breeding any fry i should have, they will happily take them off my hands and in return give me store credit. Now i dont expect to make my millions out of this, but if they keep a running total for me, at some point it might be enough to fund or at least partially fund a new tank, ongoing fish supplies or at least help me build up a realtionship with them to the point where they throw in a few extras now again when i visit.

Yes, you can give some away which is also rewarding, but if you were able to get something out of it that will help you in your hobby, then why not speak with your LFS.

exactly what i do this, i supply my lfs with fry and they give me half of what they sell them at, they even give me a 4ft tank in the shop where i can just go in and dump my fry in.

For a long time now, the fry i sell have paid for many tanks and all they need in food, filters, heaters etc..

Only problem is my LFS has a bad name so the next best place for me is quite far away.
