MY FIRST BOYS

i donno what i said wrong...i have already stated that there would be no reason for me to believe you were lying about your guppies having fry since it is so common afterall...

and i was saying it was weird that the original fry turned out all females...it was suprising to me, that's all...i don't think it is exactly a common thing to not have any males ya know? i think you just misread my tone...i really wasn't trying to be an ass...

P.S. there's an ignore button?? lol, imagine wondering who everyone is talking to in alllllll of those posts, and thinking "that must be abstract, everyone is so pissed"

weird ay fantasy fish was reding my topic a minute ago but he/she was offline at the same time

All females? How old are they? Is it possible you have some late developing males?

Geez....an all female batch. That is VERY rare. -_-

was only 5pm in the US ;)

lilfishie: you and paige are related or something right? it's very strange that both of you had all females....do you run similar setups?

Yes we are related (sisters) and do run simalar setups could that have somethink to do with it?

I think it is incredibly hard to say they both had all females, beacuse Paige was PMing me, and she said a few died from each batch. And this isn't even counting in the ones that may have been eaten....so I'm guessing they didn't have all females, but the ones that grew up were all females. :)

Considering a true all female batch is VERY rare, and it sometimes can signify something wrong. In the wild, you need both males and females to reproduce, so there is usually at least one male per batch.

maybe...or maybe it is the particular strain of guppies for some reason...or maybe some of the males look a lot like females? it is tough to say..i know with my fry they all look female for a good couple months then all of a sudden one day i start seeing the vertical stripes (usually 2 months in or so)...this is one of my males about 4-5 months..(sorry about the bad pic quality)

Wow Abstract....gorgeous little guy! Most fancy Guppies look over-done to me, but he is just awesome.

I'll stop hijacking now. :look:

thank you very much...i have (what seems to be) a very hardy strain of mosaic guppies with very strong color patterns (mostly yellows with black or greens with black - the original females were very dull gray, one with a touch of yellow in her tail, the other with a full black/yellow tail, but gray body overall)...next time my lfs gets a new batch i'll be introducing a couple new females to keep the gene pool varied...that pic was actually taken a month ago, they are looking like quite the gorgeous little guys now...after i move to my new, and even smaller, apartment (hooray  ), i will work on doing a photo shoot with these guys - i finally have an empty 2.5 gallon that i can use for photos instead of a cup :*) ...i just wish photos did them justice, but it is so hard to show their color intensity...
