My First Betta!

Well I gave in to the betta craze. I just got him today and put him in my 10gl shrimp tank. I want to eat the shrimp but I hope he doesn't just kill them and not eat them. But I want to have some shrimp left just don't want them to over populate the tank. So far I have seen him go after them but it looks like the shrimp are to fast for him. Maybe he just needs to learn how to get them. After one snap he is done chasing that one. I have seen him flare once at the endler guppys but that's the only time he gave them any mind at all so far.

What a beautiful tank! Nice looking Betta too! Those little dots between his fins are adorable, but don't tell him I said that! Crowntails always look to me like they mean business! lol
 
Not sure if he'll be just snacking on a few of your shrimp, he may get a liking to such fresh food. Some Bettas give up after a few shrimp snacks if their shells are too much work for him, but some Bettas are impossible to keep with tankmates, and he may bit by bit hunt them all down. So you may want to keep an eye on that!

Thanks guys! I don't usually name fish, I have so many that I just don't get around to it but I am thinking of naming him Dexter. But it may not fit cause I still haven't seen him kill any of the shrimp yet! He should be having a field day with the little ones but he doesn't seem that interested. He does like to get around the whole tank though. He tries to squeeze between all the plants he can. Its kinda fun to watch.
