My First Betta Please Read

ok so today i bought my first betta tank is a clearseal 18x10x10 sand bottom with some neon jewals and four plants and one rock (cobble) hes a redish purpleish veil tail and is followin my finger now and again what should i do now the tanks heated and the filter is a rena filstar iv2 should i start training him or what and what should i do water changes wise every other dat or what.

The "neon jewels" -- are they fish or some sort of decor for the tank?   Also did you cycle the tank before adding the betta?

i got them from pets at home they are stones no other fish yet if any even goin in
