I got my first and only african Cichlid today. I keep a few differant kinds of SA cichlids they are my Fav. I bought this guy because he had been in the tank for weeks and I thought it was a dwarf SA Cichlid that I just did not know. SO I bought him and after some research I figuer it is a African Riverine Butterfly Cichild.

Here are some photos let me know what you think it is.

Does anyone keep these guys? If so any info would be helpful.

Looks like the Thamasi Dwarf, very nice! They are supposed to be quite placid for cichlids.

Never seen, yet alone kept them, but came across them while looking up Zaire river species.

Thanks for the response. Seems like these are not a very popular fish but they should be. So far this guy is outgoing and peacful but can hold his own. They are also cute pretty little fish.

I kept a pair of these for a while in with my South american cichlids and a few tetras and Danios for dithers, IME they weren't too dissimilar to kribs really, slightly territorial but generally ok with your average community species. scientific name is Anomalochromis Thomasi

Thanks. I'm keeping this guy with my SA cichlids. How big do they get I read 3"-5".
