My Figure Of 8 Puffer Has 1 Large Tooth

Hiya ,

I HAVE 3 FIGURE OF 8 PUFFERS IN A LARGE TANK (SORRY NO DIMENSIONS) AND IT SEEMS THE SMALLER ONE THAT GETS SLIGHTLY BULLIED A BIT BY THE OTHER 2 HAS A RATHER LARGE TOOTH JUST THE ONE THAT GOES FROM THE TOP OF HIS MOUTH TO JUST BELOW HIS BOTTOM LIP? I AM SOO UPSET THAT I DIDNT NOTICE THIS BEFORE AND THAT MAYBE I HAVE LEFT IT TOO LATE AND HE IS SUFFERING? DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA'S HE IS ABOUT 2 1/2 INCHES LONG ???

PLEASE HELP?

Thanks for replying so quickly....this may sound silly but i guess we need to do something as it will affect his health right? i should of done something when i spotted a little lump there ages ago ...im mad at my partner for ignoring it and me for not looking hard enough! .....i cant imagine a bet taking me seriously now dare i say it but what about a very sharp pair of clippers? i might ask my fish guy at maidenhead aquatics there quite good?...

It will more than likely be giving him a hard time to eat, which could explain why he's smaller than the others. This will need looking at as soon as possible, else he will starve.

South American Puffers need trimming every so many months to keep their teeth from overgrowing, so I can only guess you'll have to use the same method of trimming on figure eights.

However, I'm not sure if you can clove oil in brackish water ... so you'll have to get some information on that from someone else.

Yes ask them at the lfs, we had to clip the rabbits teeth, but you might need clove oil and you have to no the dosage which i don't to put them out why you do it.

lol so my holby city skills might be needed i knew watching that every tusday would come into good practise....riight well i shall phone my LFS tomorrow thanks you have been a great help

yes thanks very much - i have just read it and shall be out geting some clove oil i cant let the sweetie pie suffer (not that he looks like he is suffering) but its not right and i shall fix it ....thanks everyone and goodnight xx

If you dont already, it's worth knowing that it is essential to feed puffers snails, else this problem will repeat throughout.
