My Favourite Bristlenose

just thought id share a few pics of the big bristlenose at work. now dont get me wrong i love my guys however this fella is huge and although he lives in a tank at work he is not for sale cause everyone loves him he lives in the plant tank and its rare he comes out like this so i snapped a few pics while he was out

That looks more like a gibbiceps to me! Definately not a bristenose!

Makes you wonder how noone noticed it doesnt have any bristles lol....hope you have a huge tank for him, Gibbis grow to about 17" iirc

I take it you work at a fish shop? No offence, but it's a bit of a worry that your shop can't tell the difference between a Bristlenose and a Gibbiceps.

in defence of my fish shop no one there has ever said to me what he is i just assumed in my little knowledge of catfish his name is only catty and that was all i was introduced to him/her as. the owners of my shop are extremely knowledgable regarding fish etc and maybe had i asked and made sure i would have found out. lets not pick on my shop as it has a wonderful reputation...just i dont as i dont know much about these fish

they might have i had read somewhere that the females dont get bristles so just assumed it was a female

and yes his tank is huge he lives in an 8" tank

Gibbies can get to 18-24" btw, although 18" is the average.
