I had 5 Denison’s Barbs (Puntius Denisonii, Barbus Denisonii, Red Line torpedo Barb, Indian Flasher Barb); after a failure to quarantine my wild caught rainbow fish I ended up with Camalanus worms.

I treated all my tanks with Levamisole….All worms are gone….

I lost two barbs, so now I have three. I read that you MUST keep these fish in groups of at least 5, now I know why...

With only 3 they started to fight. The largest one waited till the lights went out each night and started reeking havoc....With the lights out I didn’t notice for a while.

Now I have been forced to move one to my 55g, one to my 29g, and one to my 21g....

The one in my 55g is big and strong, the one in my 29g is in bad shape with red ulcerations on its side from attacks, and the one in my 21g has one "flared" out gill and one other that is not working.

Is there anything I can do with the one in the 21g with a flared out gill and one gill not moving? Perhaps salt to facilitate breathing?

I know with the one in my 29g that good water and no more attacks is its only chance….
