So i'm 10 days into my cycle and it still seems like it's taking a while for my ammonia levels to go down. I added enough two days ago to get to 5 ppm and two days later it's only down to 2 ppm. Is this normal? i could have swore a week ago it was going much faster than this. My nitrite reading this afternoon was .25 ppm, same as yesterday.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again..... IT CAN TAKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS !!!!! Please be patient !

Hi, ok so ammonia is processing as you have nitrite so that is good. You need to add a drop of ammonia to bring the level back to 5ppm
As your ammonia is processed and you add more then your nitrite will steadily rise untill it's 'off the planet' (spike).

Now, let me tell you, if you are getting impatient over the time that your ammonia is taking then you'll drive yourself  waiting for your nitrites to fall to zero! The nitrite takes 2-3 times as long

As the ROOSTER said you have a long ways to go (but it will be worth it!)
