My name is Jourdan and have been a fish owner for about 7 months. And man, I wish I had read up on what I was getting myself into. It's been hard work, and dreading over the loss of quite a few fish. Word to the wise...DONT LISTEN TO PET STORES! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! These are the tanks I currently have set up. The first is my 10 gallon tank that is currently stock with 2 male red swordtails, a marigold wag male and female, a pleco, a chinese algae eater, 2 fancy guppies, a clown loach and a marigold wag fry. The second tank if the 40 gallon in cycle that I hope to be able to move my fish into soon.

personally id put a few more plants in the 1st tank looks abit bare :good:
Yeah I know, I didn't want to overcrowd it with decor cause its such a small tank. That one will be strickly to raise any fry once the other tank is done cycling. I am still looking right now for some cool driftwood or other freshwater type items to put in the 40 gallon. That one will feel so much more homey to my little friends.

Tip for the 'fry tank'

Use a normal coloured substrate as when you need to catch them you won't be able to see them as well. :good: And get a back ground too.

Like the second one though, very ornamental. :)

When I used the small one for the fry tank, I had black rocks, as the fry were white, and I used lots of live plants for them to hide. I never did use a background as we liked to watch them from both the kitchen and/or dining room. The second tank is now my main tank. It houses 2 male swordtails, one red, and one velvet wag, and 4 female platys (1 sunset wag, 1 mickey mouse, 1 panda, and 1 bumble bee) and 8 swordtail/platy hybrid fry, each about an inch long. I also have a 4 inch common pleco. I had a clown loach and a chinese algae eater that I recently rehomed as the clown loach was going to get to big and I heard chinese algae eaters will get agressive as they get bigger. The tank is 40 gallons. The 10gallon tank is no empty as I used it for quarantine and is undergoing ich sterilization, and then remodeling to be used as a bachelor pad for one of my male bettas. I am thinking about using your moss ideas from the pictures of your tank as both decorations in my 40 gallon tank, and the 10 gallon. I was also thinking of using both san and gravel, and a coconut shell to build a "undergravel cave" as a hidey hole lol. Just an idea though. Its going to be a while before I do anything to the small tank.
