i wasn't sure if the Creamsicle Molly I had was Pregnant or just fat, but I woke up this morning and fed my tank and i saw this little fish I never seen before. It's about the size of a grain of rice. Did the rest of the Mollies eat the babies and only one survived or is it possible it only had one and theres more to come, I wasn't expecting this so soon so i'm really not prepared. it's seperated from the other fish with my net i use to catch them untill i can get time to do a water change on my 10 gallon, is that ok for a day or so?

Hmm nevermind, make that my Red Wag swordtail had 2 babies. one red one black. thats all i can find now. Do they release all at one or one at a time? my creamsicle is definitly next though

I had a fish throw 85 fry (platy) in 3 hours... sometimes it can take them days though. If they start giving birth but then decide they don't like conditions (ie if they are being harassed by males or other fish) they can hold off for some time.

wow congrats i too have found 8 little fry hideing in my tank HEHE.

Came home last night and started toward my isolation tank where mama had been waiting. The lights had come on by timer and at a glance I thought that I didn't remember all that food floating around in the water. When I looked a little closer there were about 30 creamsickle lyretail fry in the tank. They were about the size of my two week old endlers in another tank. Mama was chasing them so she got put back into the community tank. I had forgotten how much fun it can be when you actually know when they are born. With my endlers, there are always fry in the tank that are anywhee from newborn right up to subadult. They don't chase the fry as much so the whole multiple-aged colony gets to stay together and keeps getting bigger exponentially.
