My crab has gone missing

I have had a the problem of the crab getting into the juwel filter system and not coming out. I managed to get it out with the use of a bit of hose pipe and a vacuum. Once out, I placed it back into the main tank and blocked the holes on top of the filter housing to stop it getting back in. This was all good but now I cant find the crab anywhere. My tank isnt heavily planted and doesn't have many hiding places but I cant find it anywhere?? Its really doing my head in now as Ive pulled the tank apart looking for it.
Iam wondering if the rrc can burry into gravel or somthing cause theres just no explaination into where it has gone??

Is it possible that he climbed out of your aquarium? That happened to two of my crabs My dog found one... & the other is still mia....

What fish are in your tank?

And is there any openings? Crabs are very sensitive to nitrite and such spikes and I didnt know any better and when I had one it tried to get out of the tank by climbing the heater. He didnt get out but got half way up there. It is possible he got lucky and climbed out like that. Are there any openings on the top of your tank? And if your crab starts trying to get out of the tank or acts strange, test your water immediatly. My crab almost died and thankfully we got him back to health.

I found him a few days ago back inside the heater, he'd managed to get through a tiny gap under where the wires enter the filter. I got him out with the same method as before and have now blocked the hole with filter sponge, so theres no chance of him getting back in. There are 2 holes at the top of the tank for the wires and pipes to go in but I have taped them up now as well.

I dont know whu he was so keen on going back into the filter as theres no food in there and once I got him back into the main tank he almost ripped my finger off with the bloodworm I gave to him, he's been eating loads scince his escape, silly sod!
