My signature has my stocking information. At feeding times I tend to feed a pinch of flakes, a pinch of sinking pellets and one algae wafer (the algae wafer I only give in the evening).

The flakes are eaten almost instantly by my livebearers. And the corys will kind of munch on the sinking pellets, but spit them out again. I have observed on a number of occasions them nibbling on them to the point where they start to be mushed up, and then they eat them. But they don't seem that interested. They are interested in the algae though. I'm not worried that they're starving, but worried enough to start thinking about alternatives. What can I get that's relatively inexpensive to feed them on a regular basis? I fed them bloodworms tonight and they ignored them too.

Note - my livebearers have realised that if they follow the corys around shortly after feeding time, the corys will find the pellets and the livebearers will then try and steal them away from the corys. Not sure if this is having a big impact though, I was just impressed that they had learnt this.

I have also noticed my shrimp carrying away whole pellets into a corner to nibble on. Very cute. :)

My shrimp do that too. It's hilarious!

I wouldn't worry too much about them eating. One thing I do is drop the sinking pellets in the water right before lights out to make sure they get them. They love the Hikari sinking pellets, and I switch off with veggie tabs too.

:hey:
It's funny, because my Platies (5) will do the same(follow the corys around to find the food )

I have 4 Julii Cory cats and they like the "cheap" food .
I bought Wardley Shrimp Pellet formula and they ate that.

Then I discovered the main ingrdient is Wheat Meddling(yuck),followed by Shrimp meal, fish meal, fish oil .

I bought a better quality one,the Nutrafin Max which contains Krill, fish meal, shrimp and then soy concentrate.

All the fish hate it and I had no "takers" (not even the platies would eat it),
it simply fouled up the water, until I too it out after several hours !

I suppose you could try Wardley Shrimp pellets ,since is is inexpensive .

If anyone knows of a better/more popular formula that would be great to know :)

my cories like the odd bloodowrm they that makes it down to them, but mainly they eat the tiny little 2-3mm catfish pellets, and they also love tetra prima. mine never go for algae discs.

i've only ever seen my Panda's eat bloodworm...i break up the algae wafers into tiny pieces..they sniffle right on past them...I've had then a few weeks now..so i suppose they are eating something...but i never actually SEE them eat anything.
My Platy's are pigs too....i usually put flake in for them and then the wafers the other end...but as the cory's arent intrested the platy's hoover that up too.

Why are you breaking up the algae wafers? If you leave them whole the platys can't eat them, and the cory love to snuffle over the whole tab ...

good point...i guess i thought they would be able to eat them easier broken up.

Have to say that my corys like to snuffle over the sinking algae tabs I give them. Like to ruffle their feelers into them so they stir up a cloud of algae then snuffle through that.

If I leave one in, it can take them over an hour sometimes for it to be completely gone, but as I know they will eat all of it I'll leave it in until it's gone. All of the fish in the tank, and the shrimp, like to eat it so it's never wasted!

The tabs are really designed so the cats and plecos can do just that ... snuffle over the top of them while they're dissolving.

havent seen anything my cories arnt interested in yet lol, frozen foods flakes discus pellets cucumber algae wafers peas beefheart, love it all

well i put 3 wafers in for my 5 cory's this morning ..one snuffled over it...and off the other side...and the Platy's pecked at it!!
i havent a clue what they eat..but they are still alive so must be eating something?

I have 4 c. delphax that I rarely see, but when I do they look very well fed!
