Hi ,have had a problem with my ph going from 7.6 down to 6.6 [lost a shrimp today ] so did a 60 percent water change ,and removed bogwood from tank as thought it was the tannin causing this, re tested ph had gone to 7.6 again ,now hours later retested water ,ph gone to 6.6 again, ammonia 0, nitrite 0 nitrate 0,whats happening and what`s a matter with my cory as now noticed his back fin has got white on ,what can i put in water for it?
Just to add tank is still ina fish in cycle for three months now.

Is this new bogwood? Do you do weekly water changes? I have loads of bog wood in all my tanks and it doesn't change the pH much because I do 50% water changes each week, the water doesn't have time to soften too much. Just increase the amount of water changes. As long as you keep the water clean and follow a routine, the cory should be ok. Don't add anything to the water without knowing what's wrong plus certain meds are harsh for their skin.

Thanks ,but i ve been doing 60 percent daily water changes lately because my ammonias been as high as 0.50 ,so i don`t think it `s that, the bogwood s weeks old ,i soaked it for a day before putting it in tank, but it`s out now so the bogwoods not the problem.r

Ok, well keep up on the water changes until ammonia is at 0. You should increase to 75% daily as any ammonia is hard on the fish. What sort of filter to you have? Have you cut back on feeding too? It's really important to do more water changes because the ammonia you had is being converted into nitrite/nitrate which I think is why the pH dropped. You need to get the pH up again so that the bacteria can deal with the ammonia. Do a good gravel vac as well.

My ammonias been 0 four days,nitrites 0 nitrates 0?

So then I'm assuming your pH is normal again? Because if not, then I don't know what else would cause it to drop(other than my previous guess). Looking at type of substrate would be the next thing I guess...
