JOURNAL POST
Hi all, it's time to start my first potentially exciting complete journal. :)

Firstly, let me warn you that for the first few weeks or possibly months it may not be exciting at all as I will have to cycle the tank without mature media and ultimately, actually get the tank. Yes, you read that right. I haven't yet got the tank however I purchased it yesterday (8/2/11) from Seapets for £229 :hyper:

I haven't decided what fish I will be housing in the tank as of yet but I have decided it will be a planted aquarium. I plan to keep this journal updated as I know how much people such as myself love journals and to simply keep myself aware of my progress.

Anyway, I'll let you know what's happening very soon!

Very interested in the progress. Have you decided what sort of scape/plants you will add to the tank? Co2? Ferts?
Any info on what you plan to use at all? High tech or low-tech (though it will probably have to be low-tech as the Roma series have low wattage lighting)

I'm planning on having easy to keep and maintain plants such as java ferns and Amazon swords. I won't be adding CO2 to begin with and I haven't yet decided what ferts I will use as I still need to purchase those.

As for the scape, I'm going to have quite a few pieces of bogwood that can be seen below and a few pieces of slate I have.

JOURNAL POST

I've decided that I'm going to make my own fertiliser for plants so I've bought some accurate weighing scales from eBay that measure 0.01g-100g. I plan to buy the "ingredients" and some plants from www.plantedtanks.co.uk once I've got the tank.

Talking of getting the tank, Seapets phoned me today to inform me that my product has been dispatched to the courier and I will be receiving a call shortly to arrange a delivery time for next week. :D

That is awesome wood.

What's the planned stocking?

JOURNAL POST

It's a date set in stone, my tank is going to be delivered on Tuesday (15/2/11) after 2pm. Goshh, I'm so excited! :hyper:

In the same breath of being excited, I'm rather nervous for some strange reason. I haven't yet bought any sand which is my desired substrate as Argos are STILL out of stock... :/

Have you tried toys r us for there play sand, a little more expensive but you get more in the bag... alot cleaner than argos play sand aswell.

You could even try homebase, they do it cheap aswell, it's more of a pinkish colour than argos's but ive used it in the past and it doesn't look to bad. It will need a very good wash though even though it is play sand.

Look forward to seeing the journal progress :)

I'm going to have a trip to B&Q today, I've had a look on their website and it is £4 for 25kg. :)

Finally, my tank has been delivered!
I arrived home to my living room looking like this:

I quickly opened the cabinet box hoping to get it set up within about 30 minutes however to my horror, there were no instructions. Because of this, it took a good 2 hours to build the cabinet without instructions. Luckily there were only a few mess ups.

Seeing as it now getting late, I can't be bothered washing the sand and getting started on things so I've just thrown everything in the tank until tomorrow.

Tomorrow I shall be washing the sand and hopefully filling the tank and starting my cycle.

It's 125 Litres / 27.5 Imperial Gallons / 30 US Gallons

Thanks :)
