May these pictures serve as a warning to anyone who thinks goldfish can live in a 10 gallon - the biggest fish in these pictures is probably still only half grown and they all have the potential to get much bigger (guess who will be upgrading their tank in the very near future... my poor wallet!)

180l with a Fluval 405 external filter, kept at 20c (slightly warmer water keeps swimbladder issues at bay, I've found). 50% water change once a week (is that enough to put you off goldfish?) The peachy white fantail is Dorito, the orange fantail is Dodge, the black and red lionhead is Chubby, and the black moor is as yet unnamed but is mostly called ugly or dwarf :p

Gratuitous picture of Sanchez the red-tailed cat at my LFS, he's huge (about 3ft long) and has a little sign saying "Hello, my name is Sanchez... please do not put your hands in the water, fingers look like sausages to me." (!)

that tank looks aewsome make me miss my goldfish. Nice simple decor looks great. I love your tank. Dorito is beatuiful!

Very nice tank. The black substrate really brings out their colours and that air pump will make sure there water stays nice n' oxygenated :good:

u do not see to many goldfish people on this forum, nice tank though, and do u know what size tank that red tail is in???

corys goin with goldfish? what were ya thinkin? peppered cories i think can go the lowest in temperature. make sure they're at a nice size though because when i put some peppered corydoras in with my goldfish a while back, two got eaten but they were too big to swallow so i had to put them out of the fish's mouth. it killed them obviously but the goldfish was fine. they didn't go it on purpose, they were just sifting through the substrate and accidentally sucked up the little things.

i know what would look good in that goldfish tank! a weather loach or 2 :shifty: lol

He's in a big indoor pond :good:

Ta for your comments. Next project is to get some more rocks in there to add height and get my plants going a bit more - the vallis in the corner is looking a bit nibbled and sad.

Please excuse the algae on the back glass, it's for my two hillstream loaches. Just added a couple of new powerheads for them today to make a better current and they're going mad in the new flow, very fun to watch.

dude! that tank is so classy and simple. :good: its sooo nice. thanks a lot....now i want one too! hahaha!

Cute goldfish, but your so called lionhead is actually an oranda, lionheads have no dorsal fin.

You're thinking of ranchus :p

He is a lionhead because the wen or headgrowth extends all around the head and cheeks. Orandas have headgrowth on top only.

Edited: Google tells me otherwise - I stand corrected  So how do you differentiate between an oranda with a typical 'cap' and an oranda with lionhead-type headgrowth? Surely they must be differentiated between for breeding purposes.

No clue exactly, but I do know that some orandas get their grows fully well others just get the cap... lol I just call the ones with caps "brainfish"

looks lovely, i like the fire in the room just as much though! i want a stove :(

Peppered and albinos are the only ones I can get here, and since I live in the tropics, water is of a decent temperature for both without heating. I already have the cories, and they know each other, so I am not expecting any problems.
