Yep, i have taken every safety countermeasures for every scenario i can think of, because i guess what can go wrong, will go wrong. My tank is so safe right now that i am one step away from getting police tape to create a perimeter around the tank and cordon off anybody who might get too touchy-feelly, which also includes myself. lol
Well that's good to hear! Shouldn't be any more accidents Although i've been here for a while now, I'm still in awe at how much the community here is so friendly and caring, its so easy to get side tracked and just wanting to talk about stuff, about anything and everything

DIY projects are always fun to work on. Are you basing your co2 generator on any other DIY project found on the net?
I don't know much about DIY co2 generators sadly, this will be my first go at it. Therefore there's not much choice but to read up on yeast & sugar from the internet. Although an old post in this forum enlightened me and i think i have a basic blueprint of what i'll be doing. All i know right now is that co2 generators using yeast & sugar is infamous for being inconsistent compared to the expensive mainstream alternative. Luckily, i don't and will not have plants requiring high doses of this gas, so i'll start off slow and in small amounts just to be safe.
And yep Jay, it definitely is fun making something yourself, the joy i get from almost 'inventing' something is so fulfilling, until something gets hurt of course....lol

Well actually it be nice to clarify with someone experienced, so SamB, this is what i think i'll be doing, and please, i would really like to hear your thoughts
Since its a 56 gallon tank, with easy plants, i'll start off with about 400g of sugar at one time. I have an infinite number of leftover 1.5L plastic bottles, and i'll be using SuperColey1's method and adapting it a bit to fit my schedule. I'll have 2 bottles, with 200mg of sugar and half a teaspoon of yeast in each bottle on Monday. Then while i assume they will be finished on Wednesday, i'll make another 2 bottles and install'em on Thursday morning. I'll be doing this as a routine to 'kind of' resolve the inconsistency issue. As for the yeast residue, I'll have one extra 1.5L bottle that has 4 holes drilled in its cap. All four co2 producing bottles will be connected to this bottle with a check valve in each air line. The fifth bottle (the one with 4 holes in the cap) will then be connected to a homemade bubble counter using a small plastic bottle. This final bottle will then be connected to an airstone that goes into the tank. I'll be carefully watching the amount of co2 going out, but prolly 2 bubbles per second should suffice. That's it basically, any thoughts? Overall i'll be using 5 check valves. It might be unnecessary but potentially having yeast residue slipping into my tank is a situation i don't want happening, so i'd rather pay extra for the safety of my fish.

I guess i'll have to go with uarujoey's (on youtube) way of making an injector. Coincidentally i still have a bunch of leftover filter batting that would be so perfect for chopping those bubbles even Fruit Ninja would be jealous. Thanks SamB,
